Pool prices in Cyprus: building, care and repairsWhat usually breaks, and what to send
Most calls are about the pump: it hums and will not start, it trips the power, it drips under the motor, or it runs and nothing comes out of the returns. Next comes the filter, when the pressure climbs and stays high after a backwash. Then water going where it should not, lights that stopped working, and heat pumps that run without warming the water.
Say in the form what is wrong and add a photo of the pump room and of the equipment label: with the model in hand the technician can bring the right part on the first visit. If the water is dropping, note how many centimetres a week. In a Cyprus summer the sun alone takes 5 to 8 mm a day; more than about 5 cm a week points to a leak, and finding it is a job of its own.
Leaks cost more than they used to. 2025 was the driest year on the island since 1901, and in Limassol water above 120 m³ in a four-month bill costs €5 a cubic metre, so a pool losing a few centimetres a day shows on the bill. The technician finds the fault and names the price; you agree it with them and pay them directly.
What the fault usually is
- Pump hums, will not start
- Often the capacitor or a seized motor: a repair or a new pump
- Filter pressure stays high
- Backwash first; then the sand or the cartridge, worn after years of hard water
- Water level dropping
- Skimmer, return fittings, pipes, the light niche or a crack; leak detection first
- Light out
- The bulb or LED unit, sometimes water in the niche
- Heat pump runs, water stays cold
- Flow, settings or the refrigerant; a technician who services heat pumps
